How Fiberglass Insulation Works

Insulating an Industrial Building with Fiberglass

Fiberglass insulation blanket is a non-conductive, conveniently available in either roll or batt form, and has become the most popular insulating material currently available. Because glass is naturally a bad conductor of heat, it is the logical base substance to use for an insulating material. fiberglass creation catches air between the multitude of layers of spun glass and prevent the heat from traveling through it. That both keeps heat inside on cold days and outside during the dog days of summer.

Fiberglass is also safe to use, leading to no known cases of respiratory cancer according to a 2000 report from the National Academy of Sciences. However, the glass fibers are a well-known skin irritant to anyone who has touched it with bare hands and arms. Safety gear recommended to avoid skin irritation includes gloves, goggles, a face mask, and, of course, long sleeves and long pants.

The versatility of fiberglass insulation in Kenya today allows for easy completion of any project – it comes by the roll or in pre-cut batts in a variety of thicknesses and widths to fit any R-value (the rating of the insulating capability of the insulation) specs.
